It is Week 3 so we have a Clean and Simple Challenge over at The Paper Players.  This week, our challenge host, LeAnne, is asking us to create cards incorporating a sweet treat.  Of course, I am frantically making more Christmas cards so I accepted her challenge!

This card was entirely inspired by the sweet treat sentiment.  This is such a cute sentiment from Amuse.  I knew I needed a candy cane and decided to use this large die from Memory Box.  I die cut the candy cane and mounted it on 3 layers of red cardstock.  I had initially thought Santa would be holding the candy cane but I couldn’t find a Santa in my stash whose hands could “hold” the candy cane… so a My Favorite Things elf is the next best thing!  My elf is stamped, embossed, copic colored and fussy cut.  He required a bit extra trimming so that he could hold the candy cane.  Once attached, the elf was mounted atop the sentiment.  The final touch was a few snowflake sequins.

Supplies: Amuse Artstamps Candy Cane a Day, My Favorite Things Santa’s Elves, Memory Box Grand Candy Cane, Versafine Clair (black), Hero Arts embossing powder, Copics, Amuse Artstamps Candy Cane cardstock, Clearsnap Smooch Accents (gold and silver), Pretty Pink Posh snowflake sequins

Gorgeous, as always Elizabeth. I love that mischievous elf with that oversize candy cane. The touch of dimension on it really adds something.
