We have a CAS Challenge over at The Paper Players!  This week, our challenge host, Nance, is asking us to create cards using the negative space on our cards.  So interesting.  I love the example card but decided to use a Jennifer McGuire technique, Negative Space Coloring.  I simply stamped and embossed the flowers on my base card stock, then masked each flower.  I used a combination of 4 distress inks to create a blended background (negative space).  The final touch was popping up a white embossed sentiment.

Supplies: Altenew Adore You, Versamark, Versafine Clair, Hero Arts embossing powder, Distress ink

The card above is in cool colors but I also made one with warm colors.

Oh… my favorite colors! I love that you choose to color the card base and leave the flowers with the negative space. Stunning card. Hope you have a great weekend

OMG, these are beautiful. And such a clever way to use the negative space idea. I am totally going to have to do this, what a great way to use my millions of flower stamps. Clairex

Elizabeth, this is stunning. The depth and richness of the colors you achieved is gorgeous. I love that you chose a different type of negative space technique to highlight….brilliant!

  5. Annie A. says:

I like how you took the challenge and went a different “negative” direction. Beautiful cards! I hope you’re having a good week ~ Hugs, Annie

  6. Jan Clothier says:

Elizabeth, I love this. I like the rich colours of both of them (although my favourite is the cool colour one). I really like that you took the negative space into a different direction by keeping the image clean and the background coloured. Good thinking!
