Shopping Our Stash #388 – Ode to Jess

Shopping Our Stash #388 - Ode to Jess

This week at Shopping Our Stash, we are paying tribute to former design team member, Jessi Fogan, who passed in December.  My condolences to the DT.  After reading Jessi’s blog, my heart goes out to her given her difficult trials, and my thoughts and prayers are with you and her family.

Last Valentines Day, I was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer.  At the time, I was a GD on Paper Players, the DT supported me in so many ways through surgeries, chemo and radiation this past year.  Their friendship is treasured.  I can’t imagine the precarious position Jess was in, trying to battle a serious physical illness, as well mental instability.  Her courage is palpable in her writing.  Thank you for the opportunity to honor a strong woman… I would have liked to have known her.

Jess seemed to love three things a lot in her card making, which I have incorporated in my card.

  1. “ink-dipped” backgrounds (e.g., Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers – R is for… Tuesday Morning Sketches #360 – Sami Stamps!Tuesday Morning Sketches #358 – DRS Designs!).   I have to be honest that I have not done an ink-dipped background (also called smooshing?) in a long time.  I spread distress ink on my work surface, spritzed, and dipped for the card above.  I used Squeezed Lemonade, Mowed Lawn, and Blueprint Sketch.  The distress combination is courtesy of a recent post at KWerner Design.
  2. snarky sentiments (which I love!) (e.g., Shopping our Stash #260 – Get Inspired by Your Bedding!Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers – B is for…Shopping our Stash #256 – Let me Take a Selfie!).  I used NBUS stamp from Funny Bones.
  3. buttons (e.g., So. It’s been a while….Tuesday Morning Sketches #359 – Jennifer Tomasic, CTMH Demo!Shopping our Stash #258 – How Does your Garden Grow?). I never use buttons on cards… so this was an adventure!

Supplies: Simon Says Stamp Village, Riley & Company Cleaning House, My Favorite Things Blueprints 15, Versafine Clair Nocturne, Hero Arts clear embossing powder, Distress and Distress Oxide ink, Bristol smooth, kraft, silver glitter paper, star sequins (stash), button (stash), hemp cord (stash)

Love this card in which you incorporated not one but two beautiful cards from Jessi.
Love the button and the sweet little houses, but that sentiment had me in stitches, hahahahaha!!
That is one fun way to do house chores, woo hoo!! I’ll keep that in mind, 😉
Thank you for playing along with us at SHOPPING OUR STASH and our tribute to Jessi, I hope you come back and play again next time.
    Hugs.
