Seize the Birthday: Toppings "Birds, Bees and Butterflies"

imageThis is my first card to join Seize the Birthday!  I could really use a stash of birthday cards and challenges are the best way to build a great stash!  AND I love challenges that don’t end on the weekends…

OK… the theme this week is “birds, bees and butterflies”!  I just love these little bees from Paper Smooches!  First I created a honeycomb.  Using a honeycomb embossing folder, I smooshed distress ink on the “flat” side of the folder, spritzed 3x with my mister, inserted an A2 panel, and ran the folder through my Big Shot.  I cut the honeycomb panel down and adhered to an A2 card base.  I die cut a circle from an A2 panel of Kraft, stamped and embossed the sentiment on the panel, and foam mounted the Kraft panel to the card base.

I die cut the bees from dark gold and gold Stardream, vellum and watercolor paper (scrap already painted red).  I reassembled the bees on the card using the right cut pieces.  To finish, I filled in the bee’s eyes with black enamel.

Supplies: Paper Smooches Bees, Memory Box sentiment, Darice honeycomb embossing folder, My Favorite Things Stitched Circles STAX, distress ink, Ranger enamel, vellum, Kurtake Watercolors, Versafine, Hero Arts embossing powder, Kraft paper, Stardream
