DAY 1: FAUX EMBOSSING FOLDERS WITH JENNIFER MCGUIRE
I am going to be upfront. I failed miserably in creating and using a faux embossing folder. I tried. Embossing an image 10x just looked like a hot mess. GIVEN I want to get my mojo back and to create 40 “hello” cards in the next 20 days, I improvised. I made one card using an embossing folder (which I don’t do enough) and a second card with a layered, heat embossed background image.
First, I distressed two A2 panels. One in Blueprint Sketch, Salty Ocean and Lucky Clover. The other panel is distressed in Festive Berries Worn Lipstick and Squeezed Lemonade. The pink/yellow panel was embossed with an old Lifestyle Crafts embossing folder. The blue/green panel was heat embossed 2x in Versafine Smoky Gray and Hero Arts clear embossing powder. The background stamp is Simon Says Stamp Flora background. The panels were adhered to A2 card bases.
The primary sentiment is a script hello from Studio. The sentiment was layered 3x, the top layer distress to match the card base. The sub-sentiments are white embossed on black cardstock. The sentiments are from Mama Elephant Hello Friend Wishes and die cut with Heffy Doodle sentiment strips.
I loved Jennifer’s addition of pearls to her sprigs. I added light blue rhinestones for a subtle effect on the blue/green card.
Good first day!0
