So this card was the reason why I was late posting (and missed the post!) at Muse. Boy, did our Muse, Chriss Blagrave, stump me this week over at Christmasvisions! I am going to have to go back and sit in on those Online Cardmaking Classes I took with Jennifer and Kristen to see what I have forgotten! Part of the problem was that I don’t have many “flavors” of embossing powders. I read Chriss’ post carefully but I knew I was not going to be able to recreate her technique on my card so I ventured out on my own. I initially tried stamping red pigment dye on black and you just couldn’t see the image. So I dried it and added a layer of white, dried, and added another red layer on top of the white. Better. I should mention I used the backside of the outline poinsettia stamp to stamp the solid. Still the red was not popping. I added another layer of red pigment ink (thank god for the Misti!) and then embossed in clear. Wow…now it really popped! Finally I white embossed the poinsettia outline and the sentiment. The last touch was to add amber gemstones covered in glossy accents. Not quite the direction Chriss was headed in but I really like the result!
