Muse: Christmasvisions 42

imageWe have a guest designer over at Christmasvisions this week who has created a one-layer wonder!  I have taken several elements to focus on 1) the ornate ornament, 2) distressed background, 3) simple black sentiment.  I could have been truly creative and decorated a plain orb…but it had been a while since I had pulled this Magenta beauty out of the drawer.  The stamp is large so I could only fit one ornament on an A2 card (rather than the 2 the design suggests).  Also I actually chose gold ink rather than red or green, given my ornament’s design.

First, I distressed the upper right corner of a white A2 card panel (peacock feathers). Then I embossed my ornament on the panel, and on Stardream gold card stock. I cut the orb from the Stardream and carefully adhered in the correct location on the distressed panel.  I stamped the sentiment in Versafine in bottom left corner to balance.  Finally I adhered the finished card panel to a dark blue Stardream card base. I would have loved sequins or splatter (closer to my design taste) but instead stayed true to the design.

Supplies: Magenta ornaments stamp, My Favorite Things Hand Lettered Holiday, Distress ink, Versamark, Hero Arts embossing powder, Stardream cardstock, gold Smooches

Love how you’ve taken the original and added extra elegance – that gold ornament is so pretty and pops from the blue! So glad you joined us at MCV this week!

I love the fact that you used only a single ornament which looks so elegant in gold! Your card is beautiful! Thanks so much for playing at MCV this week! Have a great time ahead! 🙂
