This is the first time I am participating in Creative Construction with My Favorite Things Blueprints. This month, the team posted the theme: Star Power. Our goal is to create cards using stars and featuring Blueprint dies. First know that I made a card featuring Blueprints but missed the “star” element. I am definitely smarter now! Second, it is amazing that every Blueprint set I own has stars included!
I made a celebration card. I die cut CELEBRATE from bronze Stardream, and mounted to a gold Stardream panel (lots of sparkle). I embellished with stars die cut from silver glitter cardstock, Mirracard and Stardream.
I added one more element to my card. I played with an interesting die from Blueprints 25. The die is 5.5″ long and has small intermittent holes along its whole length. I had never used this die so I just played. I die cut the holes along the left hand side of my card. Now what? I wove silver and gold cord up and down the spine. I taped the ends to the back to secure. This was a mistake I realized later (which I will talk about)! To add some much needed color to the panel, I decided to weave beads through each of the holes as well. The beads were a great touch.
I added gold washi to the lefthand edge and trimmed the panel by about a quarter inch. When I mounted the panel to a card base, I had bumps from the woven cord! I used scortape to mount the panel; I think if I had used foam between the panel and card base, I wouldn’t have had bumps. Thanks for listening.
