The keyword this week at CASology is ART. This is a loaded word… and we could head in so many directions with our cards. I decided to pay homage to one of my favorite artists. But there are so many artists to choose from! I am incredibly fortunate to live close to and work in NYC. Art abounds! I collect 20th century photography personally but I LOVE modern art. Love it. I am equally passionate about impressionism, realism, etc. I love art. I am just so fortunate that there is so much to appreciate in our area.
My card pays homage to pop artist Andy Warhol. Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup Cans are his signature work and a major piece at MoMA. The “can” is a series of 32 paintings done in 1962. Many say the collection was Warhol’s breakthrough…the point at which he started bringing repetition into his work and flat screen printing.
Laugh. My soup can is spelled incorrectly…but it is the best I could do!
I stamped, embossed and copic-colored the soup can on an A2 panel. I typed the sentiment on a strip of card stock and adhered. I added washi to the edge of an A2 card base; trimmed the panel and mounted to the card base.
