Back to Basics and Beyond #21 Paper Piecing

This week at Back to Basics and Beyond, we are focusing on Paper Piecing.  OMGee… I forgot how intense paper piecing can be… it has been a while since I have inlaid this many pieces!  The effect is fabulous and worth the effort.

I used a double wedding ring coverplate; the coverplate is die cut out of blue gingham and backed with scortape. I adhered the taped die cut to a card base, then die cut the coverplate twice more out of pink and yellow.  When die cutting, I backed the paper with dryer sheets so all the little pieces would stay in place!  This is a tip from the wonderful Jennifer McGuire.  Then patiently, I inlaid each little yellow and pink piece into the blue gingham outline manually.  I love the card.

Supplies: Taylored Expressions Circles Cutting Plate, My Favorite Things Get Well Soon, Amuse Artstamps gingham cardstock, Paperandmore patterned paper (yellow and pink), Stardream
